Wellness Wednesday…1

AS the evening gets darker and the cold sets in, I wanted to set myself a new challenge. But also invite you to join me so we can learn from one another.

While I love this time of the year, I do notice a change in my mood. I have less energy, I want to spend more time indoors, my pyjamas go on earlier, I become less sociable and I don’t feel like myself.

Wellness Wednesday is going to give me motivation to do something different every week. I don’t necessarily have to do it on a Wednesday but this is the day I will share what I did do.

I was asked recently to join Club Vitae in the Clayton Hotel in Limerick City. I’ve lived close to the hotel for over five years and never once stepped inside the gym and leisure centre. They have a pool with the most stunning views, a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room as well as a cold shower. I was having a little recovery session and sitting in the sauna in a meditative state during the week when I thought of Wellness Wednesday.

This time last year, we began yet another lockdown and I spent my birthday in my apartment with my housemates. Back then, it was meant to be a six week lockdown so I set myself a six week challenge which consisted of yoga, meditation, online fitness classes, cooking something new and so on. And it provided me with the motivation I needed to get through that time.

And while we aren’t in a lockdown right now, I thought, why not set a new challenge. With restrictions easing, I know I will get carried away with the reopening of places, more events happening and mixing with larger crowds. I can get burn out and I know my immune system hasn’t been exposed to very much in such a long time, so I need to stay healthy physically and mentally.

Each week, I will share what I did and what really worked for me. And I will be asking you to share your own Wellness tips with me. Maybe we can inspire each other?
